We are very
pleased to offer this limited edition etching-and-aquatint print
by Cape Dorset’s Kenojuak Ashevak, one of Canada’s
best-known artists. Called Birds Make Me Happy, this elegant
image features an emblematic rusty-orange owl flanked
by a symmetrical pair of stylized yellow-and-brown sea birds. Produced
in collaboration with Montreal's Studio PM and printed on heavy white
Arches paper, Kenojuak's striking composition reflects the artist’s
profound respect for nature. Each print in the edition of 50 has
been numbered and signed in Inuktitut by the artist.
All proceeds from the sale of Birds Make
Me Happy will be used to help launch a new series of
artist residency workshops to be hosted by Montreal's Studio PM.
Starting this winter, two Inuit artists will be invited to spend
two weeks at Studio PM’s
state-of-the-art printmaking facilities in Montreal, where they will
be exposed to a range of printing techniques and drawing media.
The purpose of this program is to give participants the opportunity
to acquire valuable new art-making skills while facilitating and
promoting creative growth.
By purchasing this unique print, you will be helping
to support innovation and opportunity for emerging and established
Inuit artists.
