Join us in the gallery on Sunday, November 5 from 4:30 to 6:30 PM for the official launch of Glory and Exile: Haida History Robes of Jut-ke-Nay Hazel Wilson. Published jointly by Figure.1 and the Haida Gwaii Museum at Kay Llnagaay, this richly illustrated hardcover book documents the life and work of Haida textile artist Jut-ke-Nay Hazel Wilson, with a particular focus on The History Series, Wilson’s monumental cycle of 51 ceremonial robes depicting 300 years of Haida resistance to the forces of colonialism.

Members of the artist’s family will be in attendance. Jisgang Nika Collison, Director of the Haida Gwaii Museum, will lead the ceremony. Light snacks and refreshments will be served.
