Tiktak, Kavik, Pangnark, Parr: From the Brian P. Wilson Collection

The Marion Scott Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of works by four of Inuit art’s most revered modern masters. Drawn from the collection of the late Brian P. Wilson, the summer exhibition will feature sculptures by John Kavik, John Pangnark and John Tiktak, three artists from the Kivalliq region in the central Arctic. Alongside their classic works are images on paper by Parr, the iconic drawer from Kinngait (Cape Dorset) on southern Baffin Island. Although the artists are all very different from one another in terms of their subjects and styles of expression, each one emphasizes formal expressiveness over verisimilitude, producing images that speak to the past and future simultaneously.
