Vicky Marshall: Weather, Etc.

January 25 – February 22, 2025

An ongoing fascination with weather, extreme climatic incidents which affect it, and phenomenal events has resulted in this series of works. Inspiration for them came from a need to make changes in my art practice and a growing interest in collage and needlework: seeing the beautiful results from artists who work with fabric made me aware of the energy and expressiveness that can be conveyed in a line of running stitches. The idea grew for a series of small works comprised of sections from discarded paintings which could be repurposed using fabric and stitchery to create new images.

Robert Kardosh Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of new works by West Coast painter Vicky Marshall. Using small sections of painted canvas that the artist has cut away from her own discarded works, Marshall’s new investigation incorporates fabric collage and stitchery, resulting in hybrid images that address nature’s force in an age of human-caused climate change and danger. These small and intensely engaging works evoke the dramatic power inherent in the natural world.  An opening reception will be held in the gallery on Saturday, January 25 from 1 to 3 PM.
