Modern Masters: Early Inuit Sculpture from Northern Quebec
The Marion Scott Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of early sculptures from northern Quebec, commonly recognized as the birthplace of modern Inuit art. Modern Masters: Early Inuit Sculptures from Northern Quebec includes works in stone, bone and ivory produced during the late 1940s and early 1950s in communities and camps along the eastern coast of the Hudson Bay. The exhibition features sculptures by well-known artists such as Akeeaktashuk and Amidlak alongside important images by sculptors whose individual identities may never be known.
