Elisapee Ishulutaq in My World at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection

July 29, 2022

Elisapee Ishulutaq is the subject of a major retrospective on view at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection this summer. The artist’s first solo exhibition at a museum, Elisapee Ishulutaq: My World focuses on the artist’s oil stick works on paper, a medium she turned to in the last decade of her life. Often reaching monumental proportions, Ishulutaq’s brightly coloured images recall the life she knew as a child living on the land. Exuberant, joyful and sometimes sad, Ishulutaq’s bold images present a personal view of the northern landscape and the Inuit way of life in a changing world. The exhibition is on view until October 30, 2022.
