Isuma Featured at Venice Biennale

May 14, 2019

Works by Isuma Films are showcased at the 2019 Venice Art Biennale, which opened this week. The Igloolik-based film collective is this year’s official Canadian artist, marking the first time in 60 years that Inuit artists have been featured in the Canadian Pavilion. The centerpiece of Isuma’s exhibition is One Day in the Life of Piugattuk, the collective’s newest feature film directed by founder Zacharius Kunuk. The exhibition’s curatorial team includes Candice Hopkins, Asinnajaq, Catherine Crowston, Barbara Fischer and Josée Drouin-Brisebois.
