Shuvinai Ashoona at the Power Plant

January 29, 2019

Shuvinai Ashoona is featured in a solo exhibition at The Power Plant in Toronto. The artist’s first major museum exhibition, Mapping Worlds comprises works on paper produced across the last two decades, highlighting the evolution of the artist’s practice. Ashoona’s drawings imagine the past and present fused into a prophetic future represented by human-animal hybrid creatures, women giving birth to worlds, and mystical other-worldly landscapes inspired by the terrain of her far northern home.

The exhibition runs until May 12, 2019.
