Tony Anguhalluq featured in Inuit Art Quarterly

March 22, 2018

Tony Anguhalluq’s work is featured in the fall 2017 issue of the Inuit Art Quarterly. Identified as one of 30 Artists to Know, Anguhalluq’s colourful images of the land are described as “exuberant and enigmatic.” Robert Kardosh, Anguhalluq’s nominator, writes: “Anguhalluq documents the traditions and historical ways of his people, even as he suggests a rhythm in human activity consonant with the rhythms of the land that are so powerfully his subject.” For the section, Anguhalluq was asked to comment on the influence of his father, Luke Anguhadluq, on his work. “I’m trying to do something a bit different, but I’m always looking to see if there’s anything similar between my dad’s landscapes and hunting scenes and what I’m doing,” he writes.
