Kananginak Pootoogook is a participating artist in this year’s edition of the Venice Biennale. The late Cape Dorset artist joins fellow Canadians Jeremy Shaw and Hajra Waheed in Viva Arte Viva, the fair’s Central Exhibition of international contemporary art. Curated by the Centre Pompidou’s Christine Macel, the exhibition features several drawings produced by Pootoogook in the final years of his life. Pootoogook is the first Inuit artist ever to be featured in the prestigious art show. The exhibition continues until November 26, 2017.
