“Double Vision” at the Kamloops Art Gallery

January 25, 2024

Double Vision, an exhibition featuring the work of Jessie Oonark and two of her daughters, Janet Kigusiuq and Victoria Mamnguqsualuk, opened at the Kamloops Art Gallery on January 20th. The show was curated by Candice Hopkins and centers on textile wall hangings. These wall hangings carry significance in the history and place-making practices of the Indigenous communities of Nunavat, having been funded by the federal government and evolving unique styles according to region. To see the style of Qamani’tuaq, the area that the family called home, visit the Kamloops Art Gallery anytime during opening hours from Tuesday-Saturday.
