Megan Kyak-Monteith at the National Gallery of Canada

July 2, 2026

Megan Kyak-Monteith is one of 70 artists featured in Qillaniq, the National Gallery of Canada’s groundbreaking multi-country show of Indigenous art from circumpolar nations. On view until September 20, the exhibition includes Kyak-Monteith’s 2019 breakout video animation work Whale Hunt: I Think Everyone is Here. Based on an earlier painting of the same name, the minute-long work recreates the image’s construction as an invisible hand and brush apply paint to the surface.

Featuring works in multiple media and genres by more than 70 artists, Qillaniq is the largest gathering of international Indigenous artistic expression from the circumpolar regions ever presented. The exhibition is on view at the NGC until September 20.
