Laakkuluk Williamson and Jamie Griffiths at Remai Modern

March 19, 2026

Laakkuluk Williamson and Jamie Griffiths are featured in a solo exhibition at Remai Modern in Saskatoon. Curated by the Remai’s Tarah Hogue, the exhibition is called Sikuvoq, sikuerpoq / When the ice holds, when it breaks and features two iconic works. On loan from the Art Gallery of Ontario, Silaup Putungais is a large-scale, double-sided video installation that explores concepts associated with uaajeerneq, a Greenlandic form of mask dancing. The second work, White Liar and the Known Shore: Frobisher and the Queen, confronts colonial histories of discovery, naming, and possession, placing viewers at the shoreline as a site where land is rendered “known” and power is asserted.

The exhibition continues until July 5.
