Nick Sikkuark’s “Humour and Horror” Reviewed in Galleries West

Nick Sikkuark’s Humour and Horror retrospective at the National Gallery of Canada was reviewed recently by Galleries West. The article, written by journalist Becky Rynor, describes Sikkuark’s work as both endearing and repelling, a line that the artist walks exceedingly well. Rynor pulls quotes from several interviews between the curator of the exhibition Christine Lalonde, and Sikkuark. Based on a series of conversations with the Kugaaruk-based artist before his death in 2013, Lalonde’s text for the exhibition catalogue captures the spirit of his provocative work. For those still hoping to see the exhibition, it will be on display until March 24th.
