Ningiukulu Teevee’s “Stories from Kinngait” at the Winnipeg Art Gallery-Qaumajuq

January 25, 2024

Ningiukulu Teevee’s “Stories from Kinngait” opens Wednesday, February 7th at Canada House in London, England. Presented by the Winnipeg Art Gallery-Qaumajuq and curated by the WAG’s Darlene Wight, the show features a range of works by Teevee that depict traditional Inuit tales and stories. These include the epic journey of Kiviuq, a hunter with supernatural powers who traverses the north, the legend of Sedna, a powerful sea goddess whom hunters must appease, and the fables of various shamans and spirits, all of which she grew up hearing. Teevee was awarded the Kenojuak Ashevak Memorial award in September of 2023.
